One of the best Christmas presents ever
Well I should correct that, probably the best presents I ever received as a child were a tradition my dad {I think it was you, right dad?} started when my grandma {his mom} suffered a stroke and became ill back in the early 90s. Long story short, she was out from OH visiting us one summer, suffered a massive stroke and was never able to make the trip back home to OH. She lived in a nursing home in WA for 4 years before she was called to meet the Lord. It was a very difficult time I know for all involved, but for me it was a time to become 'closer' with a grandparent I, otherwise, wouldn't have spent much time with because of the distance. As hard as it was, I like to think that we were given that challenge for a reason, so we could spend more time with her and be with her, even if she wasn't always 'with it'. Anyways, when she was no longer able to purchase Christmas gifts for my sister and I because of her stroke my dad started the tradition of giving us Snowbabies each year, from 'Grandma' and he wrote the year on the bottom of each. At the time I thought it was great to get these cute ceramic figureines but it's so much more than that. They're a gift I will forever remember her for and something I will cherish for many years, each year at Christmas time when I pull them out to display. The tradition continued even after she had passed, which I am thankful for because I have even more figurines to remember her and my parents by! Who could ask for a better Christmas present, one that lasts forever, never goes out of style, and always makes you feel wonderful when you look at it! Thanks mom and dad! Here are a few pictures of my display this year
